01/11/2012 Day 5 Paleo Challenge
It was still tough waking up this morning. Not sure if it’s still part of the sugar crashing, being fatigued, or some other change occurring in my body, but it’s like waking up from a hangover. Once I’m awake and moving around I feel better, but I am not jumping out of bed.
I started the day again with a pack of Applegate chicken breast for my morning pre-WoD snack. It turns out I can handle eating something other than Balance Bars, and Pure Protein Bars.
The WoD was focused on doing the Jerk, doing 4 sets of 4, and a Metcon which involved 1 minute of rest between rounds. Anytime a WoD has rest between rounds it probably means you are going to either crush the WoD or get crushed. Its incredible how much shorter the second minute of rest is in relation to the first.
I did all of my work sets on the jerk at 145 lbs. I mixed it up doing push jerks, and split jerks. I’m realizing today that my shoes are playing a role in my instability. I feel like I’m sticking the stance but still losing balance at my feet, and not other parts of my body.

After the jerks the Metcon was three rounds of rowing for 1 minute, burpees for 1 minute, and Knees to Elbows for 1 minute or in my case a lower trunk tuck also know as a FUPA, if you don’t know what that is you are old and need to google that shit.
I have video below of my last round. I was happy that I was able to maintain my output over the three rounds. Even with the burpees feeling like I was going significantly slower I was able to maintain a steady pace.
I ended up with the following reps:
- Rowing Calories 21-20-20
- Burpees 16-15-15
- FUPA Tuck 29-29-30
- A combined score of 195

I discovered today that I need to be more mindful of when I eat. I think I ate my dinner too early and ended feeling hungry right before bed, but I just went to sleep. It feels like I ate double what I consumed yesterday.
We also had our first Weight Watchers Meeting this evening. It went well, some good questions, and small pieces of information I have glommed will help me in Championship run. I streamed the meeting so all I got to see was Brian Wilson's face, to the face!
Jon Matzner was on the chat answering questions too, and I asked him how do I know if I'm eating enough carbohydrates, and he shared this link. Great form on the jerks and for a fat dude you push yourself hard on those burpees.
I don’t how I feel about you calling me fat…I can call myself fat but…you calling me fat feels like you calling me chink…
and what’s wrong with that?
