The Drive and Day 1
The drive to Atlantic City was faster than normal, we made great time and it only took three hours from my parent’s home in Asiandale Virginia aka Annandale, VA. We thankfully didn’t encounter any traffic, and didn’t find ourselves behind any dumb drivers going slow in the left lane.
We only stopped once for gas, so the possibility of buying crappy snacks was eliminated. In fact my parents, and my sister made a valiant effort to keep me on track by brining healthy snacks, which in turn benefited them because they ate healthy snacks too. There is so much fruit in my suite right now that the housekeeping people must think I am suffering from scurvy or that there’s a pet chimp hiding in the closet somewhere.
At dinner we went to the Asian noodle place, I was able to get by, by ordering some pork, and duck. I know duck isn’t the best thing, but I love me some duck. A mallard is lucky if it can waddle by me without losing a chunk of it’s ass by my large bite.
My first night of gambling I did well, winning at 4 card poker which is a joke of game. 4 card and 3 card poker are like slot machines, where you just skate by until you hit something big. If you can’t hang or your bankroll is too small you will just get your ass handed to you.
I played some mini-baccarat late night, and was getting crushed until I hit a crazy bonus bet. This guy sitting next to me was clearly a gangster of some kind. He was sitting on a bankroll of hundreds, easily $10,000.00. He was also missing an arm, and had a cut underneath his right face that looked like someone tried to cut his head open. The “gangster” turned out to be a nice guy, but he got crushed. I bet the bonus bet because he did, and the guy ended up winning $2,400 on one hand. Then he proceeded to play 8 hands losing the $2,400 and giving the casino another $5,000 of his own money. I wish I had just bet the opposite of what he played and we would be talking about “daddy” buying some new shoes.
I made it through my first night, and I got a workout in this morning, all in all it was fruitful day.
07/12/2011 Daily Recap
I decided that I needed to get a good workout in before I head to Atlantic City for a couple of days. My original plan to just do some light cardio and stretching just didn’t seem like enough of a buffer, especially because I had put on a few pounds from my two straight weekends of debauchery.
I went to Crossfit at 7 AM to workout with Liz. I am glad I did as the one exercise I have been dying to do was to get some back squats in, with proper form. Zap had told me at one point its okay that I don’t get the full range of motion because my muscles would get stronger and eventually be able to do it. This was probably the moment I decided that I could no longer work with Zap, that’s like a baseball player who thinks he’ll be able to hit homeruns by practicing the art of bunting. While there maybe some things he learns to do which may apply to swinging away, I doubt the world’s best bunter also jacks them out of the park like Barry Bonds.
Before we started the back squats Liz had me warm-up by doing four rounds of 4 reps each of deadlifts, hang power cleans, front squats, and push presses, then row 250 meters. Once the warm-up was completed we started working up to the eventual work sets of back squats. I started by doing 5 reps with just the bar, and then progressively working up to 145 lbs which was the start of my “work sets”. I did 3 reps each of 145 lbs, 155 lbs, 165 lbs, 175 lbs, 195 lbs. I am happy to say I can actually do a proper squat, thanks Liz.
See evidence below.
After the heavy lifting portion, we did a Metcon which apparently is a baby version of “fight gone bad”, which Liz dubbed “Mini Fight Gone Bad”.
Mini Fight Gone Bad is three rounds of the following five exercises Wall Ball, Sumo Dead lift High Pull, Box Jumps, Push Press, and Rowing. Each exercise was done for 30 seconds, with 30 second breaks in between each exercise. As the time went on the rest felt shorter and shorter. By the last round I was extra crispy done. During each exercise the reps were counted except for the rowing, where we used the machines calories burned number as a unit of measure, my results are as follows:

I'm glad I got this workout in, because I am starting feel like I'm busting through a haze of tiredness. I'm just doing my best to redfine the term "Recovery Workout".
Dude, don’t even tell me you haven’t been posted up at a Pai Gow table all day, because then I would have to call you a liar.
Louis knows whats on the Pai Gow tiles without flipping them over…
@ Both Bamas,
I haven’t been playing Pai Gow, but have been playing Mini- Baccarat with my other Asian Peoples. They were flinging Chinese around each other like we were in their basements playing mahjong.
