Title: Leaders See Within The Larger Context
From: The 360* Leader
Gist:
John Maxwell believes a leader is one who thinks in the larger context. Rather than purely thinking of outcomes based on impacts to self, leaders seek to discern decisions will have on their people, resources, and business. He believes effective leaders should ask themselves four questions related to context. They are:
- How do I fit in my area or department?
- How do all the departments fit into the organization?
- Where does our organization fit in the market?
- How is our market related to other industries and the economy?
Essentially leadership regardless of its scale seeks to under the process and how the pieces of the puzzle fit together.
