Middle of Second Week of Crossfit
I am fast learning that trying to do 5 days a week straight of Crossfit is a serious endeavor. At the end of my first week, last week I was done. I took two days off, put probably needed a third.
Monday and Tuesday of this week went well, yet all day yesterday my legs were throbbing from the Metcon. In fact as I sit here typing my ass cheeks hurt, I didn’t think it possible but yes my ass cheeks hurt.
This mornings work involved doing presses, it’s been sometime since I’ve done just pressing. I didn’t feel very strong, so I started doing a warm up at 95 lbs, and 115 lbs. The last time I did the Crossfit total my 1 rep max was 135 lbs. I think the last time we did 7 sets of 1 I did 135 lbs for the entire stretch.
I did all of my work sets at 125 lbs. Video below is from my last warm up set and my last work set.
The Metcon was a short one today, a 7 minute AMRAP, 5 Hang Squat Snatch with 75 lbs, and 10 knees to elbows. I feel good with the Hang Squat Snatch, but I’m no were near doing knees to elbows. That would mean holding my body weight up by my arms, and back, while tucking my fat ass upward.
I can barely hang onto the bar, because I feel like my joints are being ripped out.
If I were an Orangutan, I would be the one lost to Darwinian Natural Selection because it would be me getting eaten by some ferocious feline on the ground, because my falling to the ground would be the diversion thats needed for my friends to swing away to safety. “That Louis too bad he couldn’t fucking hang on…Ah well we made it out.”
Amrap I find are my favorite type of Metcon because I can put my head down and just go. I try to rest as little as possible, maybe it’s the Asian Student in me but I think the idea being an Amrap (As Many Reps As Possible), is to do as much work as you can handle in that given period of time.
I ended up doing 8 rounds, and if I actually did Knees to Elbows I think I would have only done 5-6 rounds. I’ve realized this last week I need to improve my overall back strength.
Any pushing motion has improved exponentially, but pulling motions are not getting better.
I feel a bit tired today, and Kung Fu Master Liz suggested I take tomorrow off, but I’m not sure if I will, I have a session with her for Friday that will involve no Metcon and only focus on improving technique. I’ve felt certain motions breaking down.
