Daily Synopsis of Maxwell Daily Reader, by John Maxwell
February 9
Title: Take An Interest In People
Excerpt From: The 360* Leader
Action Taken Today: Take interest in other before they take interest in you.
Synopsis:
Today’s entry mirrors many of the entries from the month of January. John Maxwell believes in the idea of other center leadership. He firmly asserts the path to success as a leader lies in the ability of a leader to endear themselves to others, motivate them, elevate them, and enrich them. The resulting success becomes a byproduct of all the work cultivating individuals, thus today the concept of taking an interest in people fits right into his philosophy.
At the core of what he discusses is empathy. If you’re a sociopath, or a narcissist (How many selfies did you take today?) then stop reading here, there’s no point for you to continue reading.
The definition of empathy is as follows:
Noun. – the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. (from the googles)
Develop people skills, treat people like you want to be treated or better than you expect, and “look for value in every person”. If you do this you will succeed in achieving your goals leading a team.
