The greatest thing about my trainer Kenny is the intuition he has for how much to push a person. He and I don’t see eye to eye about the types of exercises that I perform, because in all honesty his style of training sucks, but it sucks in a good way.
Each new exercise that I am taught or asked to perform my initial reaction is “Kiss My Ass”. Under most circumstances or situations I think that I am capable of succeeding, yet the exercises that Kenny ask me to do usually involve a compound motion or a combination of exercises which gives in my present physical situation does cause a bit of doubt. I realize most of what I feel in my initial reaction is feeling uncomfortable in my own fat skin.
Each time we move forward into something new, step one is my reaction, “Kiss My Ass”, followed by Kenny saying “Come On, let’s go”. Step two is after starting the exercise I start thinking “FUCK”, this sucks. The next step is accepting the fact that after the initial set I probably have two more sets to go. In the end, I am always amazed by how well I am able to get through the exercise. Furthermore Kenny has great “feel” for how many reps to perform in each set, he always sets the level of repetitions 3-5 more than I think I am capable of completing. For this I thank him…for thinking of hard exercises to complete, he can KISS MY ASS.
